Lit Circles June 2019

Today I handed out copies of "Animal Farm" along with our Lit Circles Packet  Lit circles are a new way that we are going to be looking at this novel.

Lit Circles Reading Schedule

It is important for students to follow the schedule carefully and complete their jobs. Everyone will do each job once. It is also important for students to keep their packets in tact to turn in at the end of the novel for an overall final grade.

Below are some resources to help students with some of the jobs in their packet:

Click here for a link to information on Bloom's Taxonomy that is mention in job #6 Discussion Director.

Below are the the review slides needed for the Critical Theories need for job #7 Critic:

Overview from 4/13 and Assignment due 5/4

Today we watch a video (click here to see the video) and students were asked to take it in on the first viewing and then try to find as many signposts as we could on the second viewing. We found 4 out of 6 signposts in the video, and several of them (again & again and contrasts & contradictions) were seen multiple times in different instances. They then had to write which signposts they found and answer the anchor questions/ mention the literary element the signpost reveals. THIS IS WHAT IS WILL BE EXPECTED on 5/4 for our signpost test except the students will read a story instead of watch a video.

FOR MAY 5--
1. Students should finish their 3rd book and do ONE more journal entry for that book.
2. Study each of the six signposts of fiction for a signpost test. This will be a closed note test because I will be grading student journals while they are testing. They need to know how to identify each signpost, know the anchor question that goes with it, AND know which of the literary elements go with each one.

Message me with questions.

Overview from 3/30 and Assignment due 4/6

We reviewed Again and Again and Tough Questions.

I checked that students showed up with TWO free entries from the two weeks we had without a class. Some students didn't have the required journals. This is inexcusable. YOU HAVE HOMEWORK EVERY WEEK.

For next week, you should have picked and started your third book, and you should have one free entry for that book.
